The Town of Berlin Fire Department Receives Grant from the Budney Corporation
The Town of Berlin Fire Department announced today that it has received a grant of $13,000 from the Budney Corporation of Berlin, CT to purchase Aggressive Command Fire Training for the staff of the town‘s four independent fire companies.
“We are grateful for the generosity of Kevin Budney and the Budney Corporation,” said Town of Berlin Fire Chief James C. Simons. “This grant will allow us to invest in the professional development of our fine cadre of fire officers. Recent incidents, including the Hawthorne Fire, an event that impacted every member of our community and all of our volunteer fire fighters, illustrate the need for strong, aggressive incident command.”
“The Budney Corporation has an exemplary record of philanthropic giving to our town’s first responders,” said Town Manager Ryan Curley. “We are fortunate to have these good neighbors `as a part of the fabric of this community.”
Town of Berlin Fire Department volunteers are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to minimize loss of life, property and environment from fires, natural disasters, and life threatening situations and to assist other emergency agencies and first responders. |
